INDUSTRIAL CERAMICS
The permanent exhibition
The use of machinery in the ceramic ware industry revolutionized the traditional production system, and enabled some tasks which were characteristic of the pottery trade – which often required a major investment in items of time and effort – to be performed in a matter of minutes by mechanical contraption.
The concept of industrial ceramics applies to all processes relating to ceramics where the strength of the human muscle is replaced by another on-human energies (basically mechanical and electrical). It should be noted that the industrialization of the ceramic ware sector did not occur suddenly, rather, it was gradual and therefore for many years, it developed side-by-side with techniques and utensils handed down from pre-industrial times.
