THE BRICKWORKS
The permanent exhibition
The brickworks were where the pieces used in construction were made: bricks, cinder, blocks, roofing tiles, paving tiles and stones, etc. These are rough, austere and simple pieces. These pieces are made to resist, sustain and support, with a high degree of resistance and tolerance, made to withstand harsh weather conditions, animal treading, excess weight…
The brickwork pieces are handmade following an identical work process, where only the wood frame used to shape the piece changed. The resulting pieces were characterized by their square and rectangular shapes in varying thicknesses, with no decoration whatsoever. In the end, we might say that some of these pieces, due to their size, thickness and weight, are much closer to the stone than ceramics, even the processes used are characteristic of the ceramic production process.
